DIRECTIONS: Millcreek Canyon can be accessed from 3800 South and Wasatch Blvd, in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can leave extra cars at the park-n-ride lot on 3900 South & Wasatch Blvd. Drive to the winter gate at the Maple Cove picnic area.
DESCRIPTION: Enjoy walking up a snow covered road, shared with cross country skiers. Do not walk on top of the groomed cross country ski track.
MILEAGE: We hiked 2 miles up the road.
ELEVATION GAIN: 660'
RATINGS: MODERATE
RESTROOM: At the Maple Cove picnic area.
GEAR: Snow boots, hat, gloves, water, and snacks.
DOGS: Clean up after your dog, and keep them away from skiers. Read the Millcreek Leash Law.

DOUGHNUT FALLS SNOW HIKE
DESCRIPTION: Park at Mill D South Fork in Big Cottonwood Canyon, hike up the road to the trailhead, and follow the snow packed trail to Doughnut Falls. It may be dangerous climbing to the falls.
RATINGS: MODERATE
MILEAGE: 3.12 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN: 500'
HIKE TIME: 2 hours
NO DOGS allowed in Big Cottonwood Watershed.

Doughnut Falls is like a small ice cave with water pouring down and icicles.

Snowbasin
A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE NEW YEARS DAY HIKING IN GOD's MOUNTAINS
Description: Begin your hike at the Maples trailhead on the road. Walk toward the ridge and do not take the Art Nord trail down or go to the cross country ski loop to the left. Look for a Ogden Canyon Overlook trail sign and map. From there follow the packed snowshoe trail up to the ridge. Take the trail to the left to the overlook.
On your return route consider taking the telephone pole trail back to the parking lot.
Ratings: Moderate/Intermediate
Hike time: allow 3 1/2 hours.
Mileage: 5 miles
Elevation gain: 810'
Restrooms: Snowbasin Lodge, (none on the trail)
Gear: Snowshoes, poles, insulated snow boots, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, dress in layers, day pack, water, sack lunch, camera, and gloves
