GOOD NEWS BICYCLE RIDE 2017

Today we joined up with the GOOD NEWS JAIL and PRISON MINISTRY BICYCLE RIDE in Park City, Utah
There were rides for all levels of Bicycle riders.  After the ride we had a great meal and prizes.

Wildflowers and Clayton

Cool day up at Brighton, hiking to CLAYTON PEAK with wildflowers.   It is mosquito season so don't for the bug spray.  And afternoon Monsoon rains pop up, so don't for a rain jacket.  

LAKE MARY TRAILHEAD

RATINGS: INTERMEDIATE

MILEAGE: 2 1/2 miles to 10,721' summit,

ELEVATION GAIN 1960'

HIKE TIME:  Allow 5 hours for fun

SNOW HIKE IN JULY?

DIRECTIONS: Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Wasatch Blvd. & Fort Union Blvd. in Salt Lake City. Drive to the top and park at Brighton ski resort.

RESTROOMS at Silver Lake. 

WILDFLOWERS ON CLAYTON PEAK

DESCRIPTION:

• Look for the ski sign at the large Brighton parking area.
• Follow the gravel path to the Lake Mary trailhead.
• Turn left at the Dog Lake trail junction.
• Keep following the trail to the left.
• The right trail takes you to Dog Lake.
• Walk through an enchanted forest.
• At Snake Creek Pass, enjoy the rocky overlook.
• Hike up the road to Clayton Peak.
• On the right, take the trail to the summit.
• As you scramble, enjoy breathe taking views.

WATERSHED: No dogs are allowed in Big Cottonwood.
GEAR: Hiking pole, water, sack lunch, first aid, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, camera, rain jacket and hiking gear.

SMITH MOREHOUSE TRAIL 001 is currently closed for restoration work from the fire in 2016.  We explored the southern end of the reservoir as a plan B hike.

MARY, MARTHA, CATHERINE and DOG LAKE HIKE

DESCRIPTION:  Hike from Brighton main parking lot.  You'll see Lake Mary, Martha and Catherine.   On the way down, take the trail to Dog Lake.

HIKE TIME: Allow 3 hours
ELEVATION GAIN:  1175'
RATINGS: Moderate 
KIDS enjoy this hike.

LAKE MARTHA

RESTROOMS at Silver Lake.
WATERSHED: No dogs allowed.  No swimming and no wading.
GEAR:  Hiking poles help you over the snow.   Bring water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, food, and water ever else you need.

LAKE CATHERINE

DIRECTIONS: From Wasatch Blvd and Fort Union Blvd. drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton.
