BIG BEACON
God gave us an exciting day, with wildflowers, sunshine, great fellowship, and a little rain. It was fun climbing to the summit of Wire Mountain.
- DESCRIPTION: From the Red Butte - Bonneville Shoreline trail, we went to up the main trail, by Georges Hollow. 1 mile up, there is a fork in the trail. If you go left it will take you to the Living Room. If you go straight this will lead you to the summit.
- TRAILHEAD: On Colorow Drive, near Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, Utah
- RATINGS: Intermediate
- MILEAGE: 2.14 miles to the summit
- ELEVATION: 2,140' gain
- HIKING TIME: 4 hours
- DOG allowed on leash
- GEAR: Water, jacket, sack lunch, hiking pole, first aid, camera, sunscreen, and hat. Bring at least 3 bottles of water, or a Camelback.
