Singles Lake Mary Hike and Canyons Singles Campfire Fellowship

Outdoors with Jesus celebrated its 28th Anniversary in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  

We joined up with the Canyons Church Singles group for an afternoon and evening that glorified God. Outdoors with Jesus is not a singles group; but occasionally we will join up with other groups for a big event.

SINGLES LAKE MARY HIKE

Description: 1 mile  hike, 800' elevation gain to a beautiful alpine lake.  One of our hikers caught two fish.  This is a great hike for kids, and easy enough for those new to hiking.    Hike rating: Newbies. Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed area:  No dogs allowed in the canyon, and no swimming and no wading in lakes or streams.   Lake Mary trailhead is located in the large parking lot in Brighton, Utah.

CANYONS SINGLES CAMPFIRE FELLOWSHIP

The Canyon Church Singles group has three or four big events a year.  All the singles in Salt Lake are invited.  We had a big picnic in the Spruces group picnic area.   Hotdogs were provided and we brought a side dish, desert or salad.  Singles enjoyed horseshoes, volleyball, good food, great fellowship, worship, and hearing testimonies of how Jesus changed lives.

Terrace Adventure

What a wonderful Spring day in Millcreek Canyon.   God blessed us with beautiful scenery.

DESCRIPTION:  We climbed up the road to the Terrace picnic area, to the trailhead.   Then took the Terrace trail to Elbow Fork.  Some of us hike back down the road, while other hiked on the Pipeline.

MILEAGE: 4 miles
HIKE TIME: Allow 2 1/2 hours
RESTROOMS: available in picnic areas
FEE: $3 per vehicle leaving
DIRECTIONS:  Enter Millcreek Canyon from 3800 South Wasatch Blvd, SLC, Utah
WILDERNESS AREA:  No mountain bikes allowed on the Terrace trail, and group size is limited.

Waterfall Canyon

God blessed us with a beautiful Spring day to hike the foothills of Ogden to Waterfall Canyon.











DESCRIPTION: We hiked up to the Bonneville Shoreline trail, turned left and went on the scenic trail. We descended on the Pond Trail, and looped back to Waterfall Canyon.
There are great views of Ogden on this trail.
RATINGS: Moderate
MILEAGE: 2 miles up, 1.4 miles down
ELEVATION GAIN: 900'
TRAILHEAD: Top of 29th Street in Ogden, Utah DIRECTIONS from SLC:
Drive north on I-15, take US 89 at Farmington, turn right on Harrison Blvd, turn right on 30th Street in Ogden, find your way over to 29th Street and drive to the foothills. The trailhead parking lot is on the right.

LIVING ROOM

 
What a great day to hike with Jesus.  

DESCRIPTION: Park by the Bonneville Shoreline trail, near the gate to Red Butte Gardens, on Colorow Road and Wakara Way. Follow the shoreline trail south. Near Georges Hollow take the trail to the left up to the upper shoreline trail and turn right. You'll find the main trail to the Big Beacon & Living Room around the bend. Stay on the main trail, and do not take any minor trails to the left or right. At the top of the gulley, there is a fork in the trail. Go left to the Living Room or go straight for the summit hike.


RATINGS: MODERATE
MILEAGE: 1.3 miles each way
ELEVATION: 950' gain
KIDS & DOGS enjoy this trail.
NO RESTROOMS are available
HIKE TIME: Allow 2 hours, plus time at the Living Room
DIRECTIONS: From Foothill Blvd, near the U of U, follow signs to Red Butte Gardens. Drive up Wakara Way (300 South) and turn right on Colorow Road (2310 East) and park.  
3 hour parking limit signs posted along the road, 8am to 6pm.

Trip to Heaven

Emy couldn't make the LIVING ROOM hike this morning; but decided it was more fun to go to doggy heaven. 

She had fun leading our Snow Dogs hikes and other Millcreek Canyon adventures.

Ensign Peak

What a great day to be Outdoors with Jesus!
DESCRIPTION:  This is a short hike up to a historic overlook with great views of the Salt Lake Valley.  Begin the hike at Ensign Peak Nature Park.   Hike straight up the trail.  Take the short trail to the Amphitheater and enjoy the scenery.  Then continue to the top.  On the way back take the path to the Vista Mound.


EMY's LAST HIKE

RATINGS: Newbies
MILEAGE: 1/2 mile to the peak
HIKE TIME:  1 hour total
DIRECTIONS:  Driving up State Street to the Utah State Capitol, turn right on E. Capitol Blvd, continue straight up the road to the top, turn left on Ensign Vista Drive.   Look for Ensign Peak Nature Park.

Avenue Twin Peaks

We enjoyed a hike up to Twin Peaks from the Perry Hollow trailhead and saw great views of the Salt Lake Valley.   The weather was cool and sunny today and a fun day to fellowship with friends.

DESCRIPTION:  From the lower gate, take the Jeep road.  After going around the first bend, look for a small trail on the right...this will take you up to the peak.    You will climb a steep hill and follow a Jeep trail to the back side of Twin Peaks.   If you take the wrong trail, you will be on The Bob Sled mountain bike trail.  Watch out.
RATINGS:  Moderate/Intermediate
ELEVATION GAIN:  1,400'
MILEAGE:  2 miles to peak
HIKE TIME:  2 1/2 hours
DOGS must be on a leash.
DIRECTIONS:  From 11th Ave and Virginia Street,  drive up the foothills on Virginia Street,  turn right on Chandler, then left on Tomahawk Drive and drive west, turn right on Perry's Hollow Road and park at the end by the gate.
