BEAR TRAP FORK

WASATCH CREST TRAIL AND DESOLATION LAKE

BEAR TRAP FORK TRAILHEAD
ON THE RIDGE










DESCRIPTION:  God gave us a wonderful blue sky day.  Bear Trap Fork is a great place to hike if you want to escape the crowds.
There are no signs at the trail head, just a forest road gate.   The trail climbs up to the Wasatch Crest trail, where you can see great views of Desolation Lake.
RATINGS: Intermediate (not recommended for kids or beginners.)
MILEAGE:  2.27 miles to the Wasatch Crest trail
ELEVATION GAIN:  2,090'
HIKE TIME:  Allow 4 hours and 20 minutes for this adventure.
WATERSHED: No dogs allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
RESTROOM:  None at the trailhead.   Use the restroom at Mill D South Fork.
DIRECTIONS:  Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Wasatch Blvd and Fort Union Blvd. in SLC, Utah.   Drive 10.6 miles up the road.   Park by the Pine Tree Village,  "Big Cottonwood Canyon Road 6260 South, and Rivers End Road 10905 East."   
Look for the forest road gate, trailhead on the north side of the road.
