BIG BEACON

Today was a beautiful Spring day.   We enjoyed hiking the foothills by Red Butte Gardens to Mount Wire.  Some of our group went to the Living Room.

RATINGS: INTERMEDIATE
MILEAGE: 4 1/4 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN: 2,140'
HIKE TIME: 3 hours 20 minutes
NO RESTROOMS

TRAILHEAD: Wakara Way (300 S) and Colorow Road 2310 East, by the Red Butte Garden sign.
Go south on the Bonneville Shoreline trail past the construction area, go up to the upper shoreline trail,  and take the trail on the south side of Georges Hollow. 

Avenue Twin Peaks

It was a great day for a hike in the foothills above the avenues.  We hiked up the trail past the Historic Pioneer Limekiln, turned left on the Bonneville Shoreline trail, and found our way to the top of the Avenue Twin Peaks.  

The Bonneville Shoreline trail was busy with joggers and mountain bikers; and we were the only ones on the peak.

GEAR: Bring hiking poles, water, camera, hat, jacket, snacks etc.

The Living Room

It was an enjoyable day to hike up to the Living Room, from the Red Butte/Bonneville Shoreline trail. After the hike some of the group went to Red Butte Gardens for the Spring Orchid Show.

MILEAGE: 1.4 miles up to the Living Room

HIKE TIME: 2 hours 25 minutes
