LAKE MARY TRAIL to CATHERINE PASS

TRAILHEAD
DESCRIPTION:  Lake Mary trail in Brighton, Utah is one of our favorite places to escape to on a hot day.  We even made snow balls.  Our hike started in the large ski parking lot and finished at Catherine Pass.   One of our hikers even went up to Sunset Peak.   This hike will take you to Lake Mary, Martha and Catherine.
MILEAGE:  2.25 miles to Catherine Pass
RATINGS: Moderate
ELEVATION GAIN: 1450'
HIKE TIME: 3 to 4 hours to enjoy it.
RESTROOM: Available near Silver Lake
KIDS FRIENDLY: Most of the hike is suitable for children
DIRECTIONS: Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Fort Union Blvd. and Wasatch Blvd in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Drive to Brighton and park in the large ski lot.
WATERSHED:  No swimming, no wading and no dogs.
FINES: $50 for swimming, $100 for dogs, and $150 for littering.
GEAR: Water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, hiking pole, energy snacks and camera.

If you are looking for adventure with only a few people on the trail; then the Yellow Pine Lakes hike is for you.   The trail takes you up to lower and upper Yellow Pine Lakes.  



FIRST OF FOUR BRIDGES

LOWER YELLOW PINE

RATINGS: Intermediate Plus (not recommended for beginners and kids)
MILEAGE:  4.75 miles to the Lakes
ELEVATION GAIN:  2,650'
HIKE TIME:  3 hours up and 2 1/2 hours down.   Allow at least 7 hours plus for 
this hiking adventure.
GEAR: Extra water, lunch, energy snacks, bug spray, jacket, hiking pole, camera and
emergency essentials.
FEE: Mirror Lake Pass is $6 or use your Annual Federal Recreation Pass on a 
mirror hanger.
TRAILHEAD:  On the north side of Mirror Lake Highway before the toll booth. Take Highway 150 east from Kamas, Utah.

DIRECTIONS: Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Wasatch Blvd; Fort Union Blvd, Salt Lake City, Utah.   Drive up to Brighton and park in Silver Lake parking lot.

DOG LAKE - Mill D North Fork



God gave us a nice afternoon for hiking. 

DESCRIPTION: A beautiful forest trail, following a stream to the lake. Hike 1.9 miles to the trail junction, where you can go to either Dog or Desolation Lake. The last .6 miles is a steep climb, with 500' elevation gain. 
RATINGS: Moderate
MILEAGE: 2.5 miles to the lake and 1/4 mile around the lake.
HIKE TIME: Allow 3 hours 
ELEVATION GAIN: 1500'
KIDS: An energetic hike for kids.
Watch out for mountain bikers coming down the Desolation trail.
WATERSHED: No dogs allowed in Big Cottonwood! 
RESTROOMS are located across the Big Cottonwood road, Mill D South Fork.
DIRECTIONS: Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Wasatch Blvd. and Fort Union Blvd. in Salt Lake City, Utah. Drive 9 miles up the canyon to Mill D and park.
