SNOWBASIN ~ Ogden Canyon Overlook


GOD BLESSED US WITH AN EARLY AUTUMN

DESCRIPTION: Look for the gated road below parking lot H. You'll find the Maples Trailhead sign. Take the old road down the hill. When you come upon a trail junction, do not take the Art Nord trail down. At the end of the road, you'll see a trail sign for Ogden Canyon Overlook by a picnic table. This is a great place for a break. The singletrack trail winds through a forest up the ridge to the saddle. Make sure you stay on the main trail, if you want to reach Coldwater Overlook. The trail is closed when wet. This trail is shared with horses, mountain bikers and leashed dogs.
RESTROOMS: Available in the Lodge and Gift shop.
RATINGS: Moderate
ELEVATION GAIN: 810'
MILEAGE: 2.5 miles to Coldwater Overlook.
HIKE TIME: 3 hours
TRAILHEAD: Maples Trailhead
DRIVE TIME: 1 hour to Snowbasin from Salt Lake City.
DIRECTIONS: Take I-15 northbound, after passing the Lagoon exit, take US 89 north, then I-84 east, take Mountain Green exit, and follow signs up the hill to Snowbasin

BOWMAN FORK OVERLOOK








Bowman Fork offers exercise and adventure in  Millcreek Canyon

DESCRIPTION:  You'll find parking near the bridge gate to the Terraces Picnic road.   Walk up the road and you'll find the trailhead.   The trail splits, Terrace to the right and Bowman to the left.  The trail follows a stream and climbs up into the forest.


RESTROOMS: Near the parking below, and at the Terraces picnic area.
MILEAGE:  2.2 miles from the canyon road to the first Bowman Fork Overlook.
ELEVATION GAIN: 1300'

FEE:  $3 per vehicle or $2 seniors.
WILDERNESS AREA ~ no mountain biking
DOGS must be on leash on even days.

DESCRIPTION:  Enjoy seeing Lake Fehr, Shepherd Lake and Hoover Lake.    Begin at the Fehr Lake trail head on the Mirror Lake Highway.  
MILEAGE: 3 miles total
ELEVATION GAIN: 500'
HIKE TIME:  2 hours
GEAR: Jacket, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, water, energy, lunch, map, and poles.
FEE: Mirror Lake Rec Pass $6


DIRECTIONS:  Mirror Lake Highway SR 150 from Kamas, Utah.   After passing by the Bald Mountain Summit you will descend and look for the trail head on the right.

LAKE CATHERINE

What a great day to be out in the mountains with Jesus and friends.

DESCRIPTION:  From the big parking lot in Brighton Utah, head up the Lake Mary trail to Lake Catherine.

MILEAGE: 2 miles each way
ELEVATION GAIN:  1175'

RATINGS: Moderate  
KIDS enjoy this hike.
RESTROOMS at Silver Lake.
WATERSHED: No dogs allowed.  No swimming allowed.
DIRECTIONS: From Wasatch Blvd and Fort Union Blvd. drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton.

TWIN LAKES RESERVOIR

Today was our animal adventure hike up at Brighton.   We saw chip monks, squirrels, pot guts, birds, butterflies, and more.    God blessed us with a cool morning in the mountains.
