LIVING ROOM HIKE

MILEAGE: 1.3 miles each way 
ELEVATION: 950' gain 
KIDS & DOGS enjoy this trail. 
NO RESTROOMS are available 
HIKE TIME: Allow 2 hours, plus time at the Living Room 
DIRECTIONS: From Foothill Blvd, near the U of U, follow signs to Red Butte Gardens. Drive up Wakara Way and turn right on Colorow Road and park near the entrance sign to Red Butte.

ANTELOPE ISLAND ~ Explore de Island



We had a wonderful day bicycling and hiking Antelope Island State Park today.   God blessed us with a beautiful Spring day.




DESCRIPTION:  We begin our at the toll booth and bike the causeway to the Island.   Our first stop is the Memorial, where we get close up views of the Great Salt Lake.   We ride up to the next overlook and explore the visitor center, where they sell souvenirs and have flush restrooms.   We enjoy a coast down to the beach and start our climb up to Buffalo Point.   We locked our bicycles and helmets; then took a hike up to Buffalo Point for a scenic lunch. 


PARK FEE: $3 per bicycle
MILEAGE: 22 miles biking on pavement
TIME:  It took 5 hours to ride and hike today
BICYCLES: We'll be riding slow on mountain bikes.  Road bicycles are welcome too.
GEAR: Wind breaker, wear layers, helmets are required, flat repair kit, extra tube,
sunglasses, sunscreen, bicycle lock, camera and sack lunch.
DIRECTIONS:  Allow 1 hour time from SLC.  Come early.
Ogden: Take I-15 Southbound to Syracuse Antelope Island exit.
SLC: Take 1-15 Northbound to Syracuse Antelope Island exit.
Head west on Antelope Drive toward Great Salt Lake.

Ensign Peak











DESCRIPTION:  If you are looking for an easy hike to see great views of the Salt Lake Valley, Ensign Peak is for you.   Children and dogs love this hike.   Keep a close watch, we saw a snake on the trail.
RATINGS: Newbies
MILEAGE: 1/2 mile to the peak
ELEVATION GAIN: 400'
DIRECTIONS:  Driving up State Street to the Utah State Capitol, turn right on E. Capitol Blvd, continue straight up the road to the top, turn left on Ensign Vista Drive, Ensign Nature Park.

AVENUE TWIN PEAKS




This is a great place to pray and see scenic views of Salt Lake City.







DESCRIPTION:  The trail begins at the gate, head west, after the trail curves around the hill look for a trail junction, take the small trail to the right (get off the bicycle trail),  the trail becomes a jeep trail, follow it all the way to the top of the ridge, follow the ridge to the back side of Twin Peaks, it should take you 1 hour to get up there.  There are many ways down, you can look at all the trails and roads below from top of the peak
RATINGS:  Intermediate
MILEAGE: 1.6 miles to summit.ELEVATION GAIN: 1100' 
HIKE TIME: 2 1/4 hours
TRAIL HEAD: Dead End at Perry's Hollow Road,  gated jeep road.

DIRECTIONS:  From South Temple, turn left and drive up Virginia Street,
pass by the Primary Children's Hospital and keep driving up Virginia,
turn right on Chandler Drive, 
turn left on Tomahawk Drive driving west, 
turn right on Perry's Hollow Road,
park at the end of the road by the gate.
NO RESTROOMS available, except for a few scrub oaks.
NOTE: There are many different ways to Twin peaks.  This is the best way if you want the fewest encounters with mountain bikes.

BIG COTTONWOOD SNOWSHOE




Blue sky, warm weather and a great day to be OUTDOORS WITH JESUS.   We went snowshoeing around the campground areas up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
